Mike Boother: Mike (Peter Pan) is our ever young 40 something! He now comfortably sits in the Principal chair when he
remembers not to sit with the Euphoniums! Mike is the band's smart dresser! When he is not designing bridges
and Airports (though he claims to have had nothing to do with Terminal 5!), he is running the local scout group or
helping with the Training Band. He has two children, Emily and Thomas.
Marian Quick : Secretary
Marian joined HSB in 1991 on the Front Row and later made her prefered position the Flugel. Following a 12
month break she rejoined on the Front Row before moving onto Repiano in Oct 09. Following the recent changes
in 2012 Marian has now moved to the Front Row to add experience, plus her tone and stamina will be a valuable
asset to this strong section. She loves the outdoors and can be seen walking many a mile or out on her Mountain
Bike with her husband Mark and two girls, Jasmin & Emily. In her spare time she finds time to work as a dental
Nurse. Marian really enjoys her playing with HSB and a group of people she calls her true friends.

Claude Lamont
Claude joined HSB in 2011 and performed with the band for the Xmas concerts. He was born in South Africa,
where he has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic
Orchestra and the National Chamber Orchestra. Through his work, Claude became involved with music education
in local townships, recognising the importance of nuturing musical skills and creativity. A french national, Claude
obtained a Prix de Trompette et Musique de Chambre, studying under international soloist Pierre Dutot. In
Germany, he performed with the Orchestra at the Bayreuth Festival.
Moving to the UK in 2002, Claude became particularly involved with chamber music, appearing as a soloist with
soprano Sara Egan and Suzanne Anderson in performances of Bach’s Cantata 51. Enjoying work with new
composers, including Oxford’s John Caldwell,
Other interests include promoting French music, and providing a platform for South African composers and
musicians, a passion reflected in the repertoire and artists of Voce Ensemble.
Recent appearances include soloist performances in Vivaldi’s Double Trumpet Concerto and Handel’s Suite in D,
at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Glasgow's Royal Academy of Music and Dance. Bringing his expertise to
the local community, Claude teaches Brass and was previously leading the West Kent's premiere youth
orchestra. Claude's experience as been a fantastic gain for the band and can only improve the standard of the
Front Row for the future.
