Hatherleigh Silver Band
Robert Harris:
Robert has been a member of the Band for many years and started playing after his son joined the band and
he wanted to learn more about the Band. He was a local lad who actually lived only a few steps away from
the Band room. Robert has now moved from the town but is always available when called upon for a Contest
or a Carnival.

John MaCavoy:
John travels around the local schools teaching percussion after retiring from Military Service as a Musician
playing Percussion. He brings lots of experience to the Band and lots of noise!!
Emily Quick:
Emily is a year 7 student at Okehampton College and the youngest member of the Band. She has been learning
the Kit since she was 9 at North Tawton school with her Teacher ( John MaCavoy - as above!! )
Emily passed her Grade 1 Kit in July 2011 with Distinction and is now working hard towards her next Grade.
She competed in her first contest in Sept 2011 - The National Brass Band Championships of GB 4th section
Finals....not a bad place for her to start to start!!
From a very young age Emily always leaned towards the natural beat within music and not always the tune,
she decided not to follow the rest of her family by learning a Brass instrument and fell in love with the kitchen
sink department. Emily's other hobbies include Netball, Running and of course Television.
