Hatherleigh Silver Band welcomed Philip Harper on Sunday 27th April 2008 for an intensive workshop. Philip and the band worked hard on dynamics and balance and the results were most impressive.
Philip was utterly professional but also very calm and clear with a great sense of humour and he has a rare ability to connect with young and older players whatever their ability and to bring the best out of them instantly.
Philip put the band though it's paces by starting the day with some hymns followed with the march 'The New Colonial', the theme from the film 'Gladiator was played after a lovely buffet lunch. The day finished with the two test pieces that will played at Bugle 2008.
A huge thankyou must go to Philip for making the day a very enjoyable experience for all involved.
