Drawn No 18 out of 22 Bands - Test Piece: Prelude Song and Dance.
Placed 1st and named 4th Section Champion Band - Qualification to National Finals 2011
D Lancaster - Adjudicator Prelude : Opening has good movement and you capture something out of the maestoso - but dont force the tone. Good Marcato at (C) and neat detail at (D) but (E) slightly unbalanced. Too much percussion and too little melody. Good ending. Song :
Slight tuning at the start in accompaniments. Cornet plays with fine lyricism - well done. Good Euph/Horn
at (F) and good balance in ensemble at (G) and nice lift into (H). This is your best playing yet and the ending is well controlled. Dance :
Robust at the start and you find a good tempo which allows the detail to emerge. Fine tutti at (K) this is all well prepared and presented. Good build from (L) and super into (O) which shows good poise and humour. Neat Basses at (89) and fine playing from all. Oops Euph! - very nearly! A good ending. Much to commend here.
D Broadbent - Adjudicator Prelude : Opening has Good conviction. Dynamics in Side Drum. (A) slight tuning here - fair dim and cres to (B). Here some heavy playing is heard. (C) Middle ensemble not rythmically exact. (D) Effective ensembles here but careful not to loose the maestoso effect of the music. (E) A bit forced in the closing statements but very convincing. Song : Slight tuning evident in opening bars. Solo Cornet plays with taste. (F) Horn and Euph quavers. (G) dont skip the crotchets please. (H) a tasteful ensemble here. Fair to close. Dance :
a Forceful opening. Good Tempo chosen. I do hear all the detail. Good detail heard from (I) to (J) and onwards. (K) A Big sound here - Good Dim to compliment (L) to (M)....works well. (M) I do hear the detail of
the lower lines. (O) to (P) a shade heavy for p. (Q) No lack of conviction here and I do hear the actual detail. (S) Upper fanfares could have been neater. Close had good conviction - Lots of good in this performance. Thankyou very much.

Susan Good Opening - Good Bass figure from A. Wrong note in 1st time bar - Fine dynamics - all moves on well on repeat, cood close.
Christine Fine start - could have more rubato - good Euphs/Baritones before C - Confident Cornet at D. E moves on very well - more rubato needed - Good Coda.
Beryl Very spirited, but perhaps just a tad quick. - Good con brio - Good close.
Sandra A little untidy to open - very good at B all parts clear - C also. a little untidy at D.C.
