Progression Within HSB

Hatherleigh Silver Band support their young players through training band and into the senior band. However it doesn't stop there, some of our youngsters have individual tuition and go on to do their grading exams, and even choosing music as their career choice.

Ciaran joined HSB when he was just 9 years old. Whilst with the band he won various trophies for his musical abilities on the cornet. He passed his Grade 2 in 2014, his grade 3 in 2015, his grade 4 in 2016 and his grade 5 in 2017. In 2024 Ciaran joined the Royal Marine Band and this year 2026 has finished his training.

Harry joined the training band in 2019 when he was 9 years old and then senior band in 2022, since then he has passed his grade 4 and 5 on the cornet, and also is playing bugle for the National Corp of Drums. He aspires to join the military band next year when he leaves school.

Amelie joined the training band in 2024, she rehearses with the senior band and has just passed her grade one on the trombone.

Bertie joined the training band in 2025 after attending a summer holiday club. He now plays with the senior band and has just passed his grade 4 on the cornet.
